in livermore, foggy 54 in san francisco, low clouds into san jose at 56 degrees. looks like that ridge of high pressure that brought the nice weather is giving way and that trough beginning to dig in off the coastline so some much cooler temperatures on the way for today. yesterday, we had some 70s and 80s once again. today in the afternoon, these numbers only in the 60s. maybe the low 70s. and a chance of rain is on the way, too. we'll have more on that in a moment. right now let's check with elizabeth in traffic. >> right now we are enjoying drive weather. quiet on the roads until just the last few minutes. word of an accident an overturn possible injury crash southbound 17 approaching hamilton avenue. that's in campbell leaving san jose. two lanes are blocked southbound highway 17. northbound looks okay and if you are traveling in the east bay, this is a live look at the nimitz 880 through oakland, past the oakland coliseum. still free and clear and no fog to slow you down. that's a different story in milpitas. you can see this better now. westbound 237 leaving milpitas towards san jose 7 m

into san jose this morning. been watching this cell making its way further southward. a few minutes ago in milpitas, now into san jose and alum rock. looks like it's what we'll expect to see throughout the day today as we seal scattered showers, then sunshine, a more scattered showers possible. we may get the back side of this system you can see one little wave of energy moving through here. that drags through overnight bringing thunderstorms. behind that we dry out. but there's more to the north and that's the going to slide in our direction in the latter part of the day and overnight tonight. temperatures chilly outside right now. only 30s in toward the santa rosa area. you have 40s elsewhere. by the afternoon these numbers staying well below the average. it will be a chilly day usually we are in the 60s and 70s, today wow it's going to be cold only highs in the 50s, elizabeth. bundle up. >> i know. yeah. pack your chains if you are heading up to the sierra and be extra careful on the roads. it's slick everywhere include at the bay bridge toll plaza. delays now at least in those outer

degrees and clear. it's clear in san jose, but once you head toward the bay, you will hit the fog. fog early, sun later and rain begins in the bay area late tuesday and will spread south over the rest of the bay area on sunday. it will stay wet through the weekend. all that fog, yesterday we cleared up for a bit and fog returned late last night. and we'll contend with that for another couple of hours. mid 60s will do it for the bay area. will be pleasant once we dispense with the fog. before we dispense with the fog, we may have trouble on the road e -- ahead. >>> you hit that wall of it suddenly. it's difficult to see the road signs. signs. we sent our camera crews throughout the bay area. right by mariposa. you can see downtown san francisco is just in it this morning. elsewhere, 101 this is near the mckee exit in san jose where it's clear. again, this is just patchy dense fog. some areas are fine. this is through san jose where the headlights are moving northbound. so far pretty good heading up toward santa clara and we have been watching this one accident. the southbound lanes of h

see light showers in towards san jose. campbell you're seeing some showers in that direction as well, dragging up from the santa cruz mountains. and also parts of the east bay. as we head throughout the morning we'll watch this breaking up and the rain will end. still some lingering clouds behind this cold front so slow clearing but as we get into the latter part of the day a little more sunshine and then things drying off nicely. a good warning trend setting up. mostly cloudy skies if you are headed out the door. of the temperatures fairly mild this morning in the 50s and 60s. but we could see some 80s coming up in the next few days. we'll talk about that and the rest of the weather. right now, let's check the slick roads with elizabeth. >> that's right. all right, let's go outside. we'll show you what it looks like on the san mateo bridge. both directions look good westbound and eastbound 92 still 14 minutes. no delay there. to the maps, through livermore more this is our problem spot. look at that. our line of red traffic sensors meaning speeds below 25 miles an hour. unfortunatel

quentin towards san jose is asking the public for help in choosing the city's next police chief. the city is holding public hearings to talk about a replacement for chris moore who will retire at the end of january. moore has been chief for only two years. the head of the police union says his successor will have issues to deal with. >> our police department is falling apart. we have more people leaving. we had another two going to los gatos. on top of three that just went to redwood city and on top of another three or four who went to santa cruz. >> fresno police chief jerry dyer and sacramento chief rick brazil are two of the people mentioned as possible candidates. >>> other bay area headlines, two would-be robbers had a surprise when they went into a jewelry store in east san jose and started shooting. the woman behind the counter though had a gun and she fired back. no one was hit by any of the gunfire. but the two suspects ran out without any stolen jewelry. >>> a cooler. >> reporter: led to a hazardous materials incident at a gym in san jose's evergreen area. about 150 people were

showing up about 70 degrees in concord. 70 in san francisco. and 72 in san jose. this is about as good as it gets though this week. we have some rain on the horizon. we'll talk more about that in a moment. right now let's check the roads with elizabeth. >> we are going to enjoy this dry commute while we can. we are following a couple of problems though. we are seeing in the usual amount of delays right -- an unusual amount of delays right now on westbound 4 because of an accident not even blocking lanes. it's off to the shoulder approaching a street lone tree way but unfortunately it's causing heavy traffic right now through antioch. also reports of an accident westbound 580 approaching santa rita, tassajara. we can't see it but we are seeing bunching up but we have delays stop and go from the altamont pass to the dublin interchange. the nimitz 880 through oakland near the oakland coliseum, no problems. 16 minutes between 238 and the maze. and a quick note for the south bay commute in san jose, they have closed off that off-ramp from southbound 880 to the alameda for emergency roadwork

further to the south right now towards san jose. that line off the coastline is still developing. that's going to be moving onshore going to bring another band of some heavy rainfall on the way. still the san jose area catching the brunt of it right now in through the santa cruz mountains. and urban and small stream flood advisories have just been issued for the santa cruz county area as we are expecting some strong storms to bring more heavy rainfall there and the possibility of some flooding. in towards san francisco, south san francisco, you have a band of heavy rainfall making its way along the 280 an 101. watch out for that. in the east bay strong storms there, near concord another cell moving in your direction. watch out, danville! in the next five five to 10 minutes it's going to start raining heavily here. the damage is done. we have see a tremendous amount of rainfall and flooding in petaluma along the creek there penngrove, expected to flood this morning. flood warnings are up there. we could see more of that on the way not only today but into the weekend as we have mor

if anyone was hit by the gunfire. >>> the teen accused in a deadly crime spree in san jose will be tried as an adult. adonis muldrow will be in court this afternoon. the 15-year-old faces eight felony counts including murder and attempted murder of a police officer. officials say he and 26-year- old jonathan wilbanks robbed several san jose businesses on november 16 and killed rory parkpettiford during an attempted carjacking. an officers are also injured in a shootout with the suspect. >>> 6:07. two men are behind bars after a violent road rage incident and it's caught on video from a couple. oakland police say the ordeal began on monday when a couple noticed a car as you see here driving erratically. they started shooting video with their own cell phone. police say the men in the car realized they were being recorded and pulled out guns pointing at the couple at a stop light. then they caught up with the couple and one of the men jumped into the couple's car demanding that video. >> the husband is able to push the suspect out of the car and tells his wife, hit the gas, get out of here.
